ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

ABOUT THE ROLE    

Student Wellbeing provides essential support to students to stay engaged in study and thrive during their university years. This position reports to the Senior Access and Inclusion Advisor and provides essential support to students with disabilities helping them to participate in their education and attain success beside other students.      

Key Responsibilities    

• Establish the specific support needs of students with disabilities enabling them to participate without prejudice in their study programs.
• Develop and maintain Learning Access Plans and recommend reasonable adjustments to facilitate the participation of students in education programs.
• Foster and support strong collaboration with relevant business units and academic teaching staff across the University to assist student leaning needs.
• Identify continuous improvement of practices, operational processes and reporting while identifying broader organisational impacts in relation to strategic planning, development and implementation of services.
• Maintain confidentiality and keep abreast of relevant legislation.

ABOUT YOU    

• Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
• Relevant degree qualifications, with an appropriate level of current industry experience.
• Extensive experience and management expertise or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/ or education/ training.
• Proficient in providing professional specialised advice and expert knowledge in the application of policies, procedures and legislative standards.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written and an ability to engage across a broad range of internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Skilled in providing services on a broad range of issues, demonstrating confidentiality and an ethical and professional evidence-based support.
• Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary issues in the higher education sector.
• Sensitivity and recognition of dealing with confidential information.
• Awareness and understanding in the Disability Discrimination Act (1992), the Disability Standards for Education (2005).
