As an ACEM Trainee you will have completed at least three years of practical experience following eligibility for full registration as a medical practitioner. This role offers hands-on experience under close supervision, providing invaluable opportunities to develop skills in managing critically ill patients. Specifically focusing on trauma, you will be responsible for overseeing the care of acutely unwell patients and navigating the complexities of cases requiring multidisciplinary collaboration. The Emergency Department has two resus bays, three high dependency bays, 20 consult rooms, a Short Stay Unit and Fast Track area with 3 Consult rooms. The case mix consists of very sick patients, that have Chronic Conditions, combination of Paediatric and Adult Trauma's with significant injuries. There will be opportunities to avail a 6-month Anaesthetic, ICU and Medical rotations, dependent on your ACEM training progress

The Hospital
The hospital and health service is made up of six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2. The hospital has recently enjoyed a major $408 Million overhaul and expansion doubling the number of beds to over 300 including a new Emergency Department. This is now a state of the art fully modern hospital and one of Australia's largest regional healthcare facilities. The hospital is also accredited for training with a number of the colleges.
