About the Barwon Early Parenting Centre
Opening in the first half of 2024, the Barwon Early Parenting Centre will provide specialist support and deliver flexible, targeted services for families with children 0–4 years old.
The centre aims to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies for achieving their parenting goals. These goals are often in areas such as sleep and settling, child behaviour, and parent and child health and wellbeing.
These goals are achieved through structured programs that vary from residential, day stay and in-home support. Programs include:
psychosocial, physical and developmental assessments
parenting education
counselling
skills development
play-based activities
modelling effective behaviours.
The Barwon Early Parenting Centre is located within the McKellar Centre precinct on Ballarat Road in North Geelong.

About the role
In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and families at the Early Parenting Centre, ensuring a welcoming environment from referral to discharge. Your responsibilities include managing the reception area, admitting and discharging clients respectfully, and maintaining accurate patient records. We are seeking a professionally presented, highly organised individual capable of managing competing demands and changing priorities. To succeed, you must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver a positive first impression for the Early Parenting Centre. Key responsibilities include answering incoming calls, welcoming visitors at reception, and providing administrative support to program areas and other departments as needed.

Essential: Computer literate with advanced skills in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn specialist programs used with the department (BOSS Net)
Desirable: Experience using the iPatient Manager System (iPMs)
Desirable: Excellent reception/telephone skills and pleasant phone manner with an ability to remain calm and empathetic to difficult callers
Essential: Flexibility to work rostered shifts
Essential: Ability to work effectively, organise and plan tasks in a busy setting
Essential: Demonstrated excellent time management, organisational and skills including ability to effectively manage competing workloads priorities within a tight timeframes and a changing environment.
