About your opportunity:

Fixed term temporary full-time / Multiple positions available / Location: Townsville

The role of the Principal House Officer is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients/clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS), and to meet the requirements for Advanced Specialised Training as part of FACRRM or FRACGP training (for example the Advanced Certificate in Rural Generalist Anaesthesia or the DRANZCOG Advanced).

In addition, the Principal House Officer will provide supervision of junior medical staff, including some responsibility for providing teaching to junior medical staff and medical students.

A service commitment to a THHS rural hospital after this training will be expected, possibly at SMO or provisional SMO level.

This position may require the incumbent to work in other facilities within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

  • Salary range of $4822.20 to $5591.00 p.f. (L4-L9)
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australi
  • Currently enrolled with the Australian General Practice Training with either RACGP or ACRRM, or intention to apply to the Program within twelve months of commencement in this role.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. 
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
