Duration of the training program: 12 months from 3/2/25 up to 1/2/26
Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement
At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.
An exciting opportunity is presented for an individual with a solid background and genuine interest in Geriatric Medicine. This position is based at one of South Australia's leading Local Health Networks.
About the role:
A multi-faceted role where you will gain a diverse range of experience, you will be responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to current department in consultation with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. Able to function effectively within a fast paced environment, you will maintain a high standard of patient care for inpatients and outpatients, and provide an effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of daily shifts and at the change of a clinical attachment. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to continuous quality improvement activities and education activities, participating in the department's CME, research and teaching program.
About you:
Registered with the Medical Board of Australia and having completed the FRACP written and clinical examinations or having completed the FRACP written exam and are eligible for provisional training, you will bring appropriate post graduate experience. A team player who can operate effectively as part of a working group or individually, you will demonstrate competency in a range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills. You will possess high level skills in negotiation and communication, exhibiting the ability to display genuine empathy for patients and their relatives and family. Able to work under pressure without compromising patient care, you will have proven skills in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level.
