Advisor – Occupational Health & Hygiene.

Our Lihir operation in HSES, Health & Hygiene is now recruiting for the position of Advisor – Occupational Health & Hygiene.

The role will have the following responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
  • Supports and implements health and hygiene system implementation activities including collection and analysis of samples to assess workers' exposure to physical, chemical, and biological agents such as dust, fibres, asbestos, silica, bacteria, mould, and noise.
  • Ensure the operation is productive with minimal impact on people who are exposed to occupational exposure risks.
  • Ensures compliance with Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) and all relevant industry standards and practises.
  • Ensures implementation of the Health and Occupational Hygiene Exposure Reduction Program by implementing a hierarchy of controls to minimise health risks to employee
  • Effectively manage the Calibration and maintenance of sampling equipment.
  • Ensures all identified personnel comply with the Earfit and Respiratory Fit testing Program in compliance with the regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures continuous improvement of HSE management practices.
  • Effectively manages own time to complete tasks in line with job expectations and requirements adjusting plans to cater for unforeseen events/disruptions
  • Exposure and understanding of the use of health and Occupational Hygiene Systems including Cority, and ChemAlert.
  • Oversees health and Occupational hygiene data management, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Oversees the process of health and Occupational hygiene monitoring and management system through anticipating, analysing, monitoring, implementing controls and reviewing.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum Degree in Health Sciences or relevant equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in the delivery of Occupational Health and hygiene programs across large-scale mining operations.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  •  Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  •  Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.

Desirable criteria

  •  Member with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH)
  • Must have a class 6 driver’s License.

The Requirements

  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
