About the Role
As the Principal Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing discipline leadership and shaping the development of policies, programs, and services across the Student Support Services, Inclusive Teaching and Learning Directorate, and the broader Division. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality, specialised expertise and advice to drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative practices within Student Support Services and the Department for Education.
- Leading, supporting, and supervising Senior Occupational Therapists to ensure organisational needs and objectives are met, and facilitating comprehensive professional induction, support, and supervision for them.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-government organisations, universities, and professional bodies, to establish and maintain strategic partnerships that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
- Applying professional knowledge and sound judgment to select and adapt evidence-informed interventions for children and young people with diverse learning, behavioral, social, emotional, regulation, and well-being challenges.

Requirements
Essential: Current and full registration with the Occupational Therapy board of Australia. An appropriate degree in occupational therapy or other appropriate qualification giving eligibility for practising membership of the Occupational Therapy Association of Australia.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration

AHP4: $112,625 - $122,610 per annum plus superannuation
