This is a great opportunity for experienced AI Engineers to work within a team responsible for conducting research and innovate where Science and Technology converges with computing infrastructure to deliver increased research productivity and enable new science discovery across the broader department.
As an experienced AI Engineer you will have demonstrated skills in development and management of AI, ML and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities.
General requirements of the position include:
- Have sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to work productively and collaboratively as a member of a team;
- Have the ability to develop strong working relationships across multiple business areas and recommend or co-ordinate efforts to deliver fit-for-purpose and timely outcomes;
- Contribute positively to the outcomes of highly functional teams;
- Be proficient in troubleshooting, investigation and reverse engineering of complex and undocumented systems; and
- Ideally have experience collaborating and effectively contributing to the outcomes of Agile development teams.
Technical skills required include:
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and deploying machine learning models to enable research and development support, ideally to Defence programs and initiatives
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java
- Familiarity with AI technologies, including machine learning, LLMs, API integration, NLP, data analytics and text data manipulation processes
- Familiarity with deep learning techniques and frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
