Job description

An entry requirement for employment with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is that you must be an Australian citizen. Your role

As an Airborne Electronics Analyst in the Air Force, you’ll play an exciting role as the eyes and ears of the Air Force. You’ll work onboard the P-8A Poseidon or E-7A Wedgetail using a range of surveillance tools to receive and analyse information in support of missions, operations, or exercises.

Your duties may include:

  • Using radar to conduct surface surveillance, searches for small targets such as submarine periscopes, weather analysis, terrain avoidance and search and rescue.
  • Using Electro-Optics sensors to detect infrared signatures of targets.
  • Using Electronic Surveillance Measure sensors to search for, identify, and intercept electromagnetic emissions.
  • Using acoustic sensors to detect, classify and track submarines.

Salary

Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $90,819.

Location

Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.

For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passed Year 10 English, Maths and one STEM subject.
