Airport Development Group (ADG) owns and manages diverse infrastructure assets across the Northern Territory including airports, hotels, aviation, and commercial buildings. Investing, developing, and managing long term infrastructure to grow the Territory and Northern Australia.

The primary focus of this role is to lead and manage the Darwin International Airport Airside Environment. You will be accountable for the delivery of efficient day-to-day airport operations; primarily focusing on airside safety and compliance. 

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in the application of CASA and relevant Australian aviation legislation who can provide a high level of customer service to key internal/external stakeholders and the public through the delivery of airside facilities and services in a safe, secure and timely manner. You will be responsible for developing operational processes and systems to improve airfield safety in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Continuously improve operational processes and systems, including managing plans, procedures and other operational documents. Systems include, but are not limited to, Business Continuity Plans, Aerodrome Operations Manual, DIA Standard Operating Procedures, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, and the Airside Vehicle Control Program.
  • Report on and investigate incidents, accidents, hazards and other issues in a timely manner in accordance with company requirements.
  • Review and manage Daily Operations Reports. Work closely with the Senior Operations Coordinator and Airport Duty Manager to ensure all reporting and recording of information in respective databases are completed and accurate.
  • Participate in, and assist with, training, exercises and relevant industry seminars as required.
  • Provide relief for the ADG Head of Airside in their absence.
  • Oversee day-to-day airport operations; including providing airside support and undertaking the duties of the Airside Operations Officer as required.
  • Oversee the training and assessment of DIA Airside Operations Officers.
  • Oversee the coordination, provision and allocation of airside facilities such as apron parking bays. 
  • Ensure that airside maintenance and works are notified to stakeholders in a timely manner, including ensuring that proper Permits are in place and that work is carried out safely and in accordance with approvals. 
  • Respond to activations of the Airport Emergency Plan in accordance with procedures. Working closely with ADG Head of Airside, providing operational support to the Airside Operations Officers for an Aerodrome Emergency.
  • Respond to environmental incidents and manage in accordance with the Environmental Management System.
  • Chair DIA Committee Meetings, including Airside Safety Operations Committee and other meetings as required.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in the application of CASA and Department of Infrastructure (Office of Transport Security) Regulations and relevant Australian aviation legislation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team.
  • Understanding of Safety Management principles. 
  • Demonstrated ability to take control and accept responsibility during an emergency.         
  • Extensive knowledge of airport, airline and airside operations.
  • High level of computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft packages. 
  • Hold a current NT driver’s licence.
  • Ability to gain competency in Certificate III in Airport Airside Operations.
  • Ability to gain an Aviation Security Identification Card. 
  • Ability to gain an NT Firearms Licence and hold the company licence.
  • Ability to gain First Aid certificate and apply first aid as required.
  • Ability to gain a CASA Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency.
  • Ability to gain a CASA DAMP Supervisor certificate.
