Bridges Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation & Treatment Service (DARTS) offers a comprehensive therapeutic drug and alcohol service for both youth aged 12 years plus, and adults. It includes counseling, withdrawal management, psychosocial interventions and day rehabilitation program. We also assist families and carers who may have difficulty coping with their loved ones' problematic drug or alcohol issues.

About the Opportunity

Bridges Health & Community Care currently has a position available in our Hervey Bay officefor an experienced Drug & Alcohol Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team.  Flexible working arrangements are available.

In this role, you will be providing evidence based interventions for individuals with drug and alcohol issues, and family members impacted by someone else's use. Your role will include counseling, case management, care coordination, brief interventions, day rehabilitation services and crisis support, psycho-education, referrals to residential rehabilitation or other AOD services. 

Travel to outreach clinics across the Wide Bay region and/or other BHCC sites may be required. A company vehicle will be provided for this purpose.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering evidence based psychological and psychosocial AOD treatments in a range of settings;
  • Improving the family functioning, social connectedness and life skills of people who misuse substances;
  • Delivering an evidence based day rehabilitation program
  • Providing one-to-one support and interventions, relapse prevention and ongoing assistance to improve psychosocial and family functioning;
  • Ensuring client files are maintained as per statutory compliance requirements; and
  • Promoting the Bridges DARTS services to gain broader community awareness.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in the health, social or behavioural science field and have experience working with individuals with drug and alcohol issues
  • Minimum of three years experience working in a drug and alcohol treatment setting, and experience working with all types of licit and illicit substances and co-morbidity.
  • Innovative engagement strategies and strong collaborative relationships with the health and community sector will be vital.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply harm minimisation practices in the treatment of people with AOD issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct client assessments and prepare treatment plans based on those assessments.
  • Ability to provide evidence-based brief interventions for people who misuse alcohol and other drugs and for family members impacted by someone else’s use.
  • Ability to provide evidence-based clinical practice for people with complex needs and/or dual diagnosis.
  • A good understanding of community resources, treatment services and referral networks would be held in high regard
  • Well developed IT and computer skills, including the use of databases.

A requirement prior to commencement is to currently hold and maintain:

  • Current working with children check (Blue Card)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Current Queensland Open Driver Licence
  • The right to work in Australia
