The Role

We have a full-time opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team!

Reporting to the Interim Head of Data and Digital Solutions, the Application Specialist is responsible for managing and administering TasPorts corporate and marine business applications and IT solutions at a statewide level. 

You will deliver the highest level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders and will partner with the business to ensure that the supported applications meet organisational requirements. 

This role is based in the TasPorts Corporate Office, Hobart.

Key duties include: 

  • Manage, maintain and provide specialist support for TasPorts core business application and databases including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in a timely manner. 
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to manage performance expectations and service levels for specific areas of business applications.
  • Lead the training of application and system users including preparation and presentation of system, technical and associated documentation, as required.
  • Manage enhancements and upgrades to ensure applications and systems are performing efficiently and effectively in accordance with TasPorts policies and processes, including coordination of the change management cycle.
  • Identify improvement opportunities to use applications and systems more effectively along with continually evolving applications, systems and associated business workflows to realise operational efficiencies and streamline processes.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and implement disaster recovery plans in consultation with relevant users of the application to support business continuity of applications and systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

  • Strong demonstrated experience in end-to-end delivery of business systems and applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a complex multi-tiered integrated environment with the ability to understand the inter-relationship between the various applications and components.
  • Knowledgeable and experience with integration and scripting tools; such as API Integration, PowerShell, PowerBI, SQL, HTML and Microsoft Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of TasPorts business operations and the acts, regulations, codes, policies and procedures administered by TasPorts.
  • Proven ability to persuade and influence effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in relation to changes to systems, processes and ways of working.
  • High level self-management skills and the ability to plan, organise, and progress tasks within prescribed timeframes and escalate issues as appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Information Technology/Commerce or similar.
  • 5 years’ experience in administering information technology enterprise solutions. 
  • Current drivers’ licence.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

Desirable

  • Experience with DevOps, scripting tools, Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and PowerShell, SQL.
  • Managing critical infrastructure of Ports solutions, i.e Port Mate or similar. 
  • Salesforce CRM experience
  • HR Systems experience
  • Security Systems experience.
