Address- Set up, maintain and operate machines to cut and shape metal stock, forming intricate, exact components to create tools and parts for equipment used in everything from mining and engineering to manufacturing and food production.
- Refer to detailed drawings and computer-aided design (CAD) systems to obtain the specifications for jobs, calculate dimensions, measure and mark the metal and undertake the machine processes.
- Use drilling, turning, boring, plating and milling machines, CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machines, lathes and other hand tools.
- Enjoy precise and accurate work with attention to detail and using strong maths skills. Physical, manual work.
- Previous work experience or work related tasks would be advantageous.
Initially the apprentice will assist the tradespersons, do general duties such as workshop maintenance while learning various aspects of the trade.
Qualities & requirements
Good school results and solid reports for attitude and attendance
A Pre-apprenticeship or Certificate II in Engineering is preferred but not essential
Commitment to complete a four year Engineering Tradesperson Apprenticeship
Ability to pass a full medical, drug and alcohol screen
Strong appreciation and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety and the wearing of PPE
Class 1 Drivers Licence and own transport
Permanent resident or Australian Citizenship and live in Perth Metropolitan area
