Do you like to fix things and would describe yourself as being mechanically minded? Council is offering the opportunity for the successful applicant to commence a career within the Mechanical industry, or for a mature age worker to obtain formal qualifications while working fulltime in Council’s modern workshop facility. The successful applicant must display a keen interest in learning the necessary knowledge and skills to repair, service and maintain plant and equipment. Council’s workshop is responsible for a wide range of plant ranging from light equipment and vehicles, to earthmoving machinery. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a willingness and the ability to contribute to a safe, clean, harmonious and efficient workshop facility. Applicants must be prepared to study and travel to successfully complete their training obligations.

Mandatory Requirements
- Successful completion of Year 10 School Certificate;
- Current General Construction Induction card;
- Sound language, literacy and numeracy skills to enable successful completion of a Certificate III in the relevant field of qualification;
- Ability to carry out a physical role;
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; and
- Current Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisations (or willing to obtain).
Desirable Requirements
- Year 12 equivalent (or currently completing);
- Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence; and
- Knowledge of vehicle and plant repair / maintenance.
