With 35 years of experience, here at East Coast Apprenticeships, we pride ourselves on our ability to effectively hire and train apprentices, resulting in the development of skilled tradespeople equipped to meet the demands of industry.
As a Roof Plumbing Apprentice with ECA:
- You will be exposed to a diverse range of captivating projects, spanning from new residential constructions and renovations to refurbishments and commercial ventures
- You will be working full-time, 40 hours per week
- You may be entitled to a rostered day off each month
- If successful, you will be completing your trade with one of our Host Employers, who will give you in-depth knowledge and guidance to help you become trade qualified within 3 years
1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th year Apprentices are encouraged to apply
With the support of qualified trades people, you can expect to:
- Work alongside experienced roof plumbers to assist in the installation of roofing materials specific to Australian standards and regulations, such as metal sheets, tiles, or Colorbond roofing. This may involve measuring, cutting, and positioning materials accurately.
- Assist in the installation of gutters and downpipes to ensure proper drainage and water flow from the roof. This may involve measuring, cutting, and connecting guttering components and positioning and securing downpipes.
- Assist with maintenance tasks, such as cleaning gutters, inspecting roofs for damage, and identifying areas that require repair. This may also include assisting in repairing or replacing damaged or worn-out roofing materials, gutters, or downpipes.
- Learn how to identify and locate roof leaks, and assist in the repair process. This may involve using appropriate tools and techniques to seal leaks or replace damaged sections of the roof.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations, including working at heights safely, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and following safe practices when handling tools and equipment. Understanding and complying with relevant Australian plumbing codes and regulations is essential.
- Assist with the handling and transportation of materials, tools, and equipment required for roofing projects. Ensuring the work area is kept clean and organised and properly storing materials.
- Any other tasks requested by the host employer
Please note that the specific duties may vary depending on the host company and the nature of the projects undertaken. As an apprentice, your main focus will be on learning and supporting experienced roof plumbers in their work while gradually gaining the skills and experience required to become a qualified roof plumber.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have:
- An interest and commitment to work in Construction
- A White Card or the ability to obtain one ASAP
- A current Drivers License or be close to obtaining one, and have your own reliable transport
- While not mandatory, completing a pre-apprenticeship course in plumbing or Roof Plumbing can greatly enhance your chances of securing an apprenticeship. These courses provide foundational knowledge and practical skills relevant to the trade
- Work experience within the construction industry is highly desirable
- Physically fit, self-disciplined, and have high attention to detail
- Reliable, resilient, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Have excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Able to take direction and take the safety of yourself and your team members seriously
