We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Graphic Designer/Multimedia Specialist to work as part of a small team to create, deliver and maintain a range of communications products for the Defence Aviation Safety Authority – Defence Flight Safety Bureau.
As part of the Publishing and Multimedia team, you will create multimedia, print and digital graphic design products to enhance the safety of military aviation within the Defence Aviation Community.
Specific duties of the position include:
- Create engaging multimedia content for Defence Aviation Safety, including video, photography, audio, animation, design and online outputs to effectively communicate key messages.
- Create visually appealing and impactful designs for a variety of communications materials, including publications, reports, promotional material, corporate material, presentations, posters, banners and web content.
- Distil complex and/or technical written information into effective visual communication products (such as diagrams and infographics).
- Working collaboratively with Deputy Director Publishing and Multimedia, Senior Graphic Designer and key stakeholders to deliver high-quality accurate multimedia and graphic design products that meet the design brief within the required timeframe.
- Participating in planning and concept development of media and communications products.
- Liaising with service providers such as printers, distribution agencies and delivery services.
The Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) is responsible to enhance and promote the safety of military aviation through the implementation of a Defence Aviation Safety Program that promotes a generative safety culture and independently assures the effective management of Defence aviation safety risks.
DASA is a complex organisation consisting of Headquarters (HQ) elements and five Directorates providing aviation safety assurance and specialist engineering services to the Defence aviation community.
The organisation has a strength of around 300 personnel, made up of Australian Defence Force members and Australian Public Servants, and is physically located in Melbourne VIC, Canberra ACT, and Amberley QLD.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate expertise and experience:
- In the use of the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects) or similar software suites.
- Working in a contemporary design studio or media and communication team.
- Working with limited supervision, prioritising competing demands and meeting tight deadlines to achieve expected outcomes.
- Communicating effectively (both verbally and in writing) with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify and deliver agreed outcomes.
