The Role
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) Headquarters has an exciting opportunity for an individual to provide secretariat functions in support of Chief of Joint Capabilities (CJC) and Deputy Chief of Joint Capabilities (DCJC). Delivering support in a fast-paced environment requires strong attention to detail and strong communication skills. You will work closely with stakeholders to prepare CJC and DCJC for Defence Enterprise-level Committees including providing secretariat and general administration support; coordinating briefings; managing Group committee schedules and coordinating submissions. Duties may include maintaining the forward work plan and coordinating the submission process, quality assuring written submissions and coordinating briefings.
About our Team
Headquarters JCG (HQJCG) provides high-level support to the Group Head, CJC, and the Deputy Head, DCJC, by directing and coordinating Group operations across a range of functions. HQJCG works closely with the Divisions and Commands within JCG and the other Groups and Services within Defence to contribute to JCG and Defence-wide outcomes.
The Secretariat team works closely with other HQJCG teams and the broader JCG Commands, Divisions and Elements (CDE). The team is responsible for providing administrative coordination and support for CJC and DCJC including management of submissions to various committees.
The HQJCG team currently comprises the Offices of CJC and DCJC, Ministerial and Parliamentary Directorate, Governance Directorate, Workforce and Culture Directorate, Media and Communications, Web Management and Legal Support. Important Note: The role requires an ability to work primarily from our Russell office. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements around this requirement.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in coordination and administration functions in a fast paced environment.
The role requires someone with exposure to secretariat services to manage committee schedules, agendas and submissions. The candidate will have an understanding of, or capacity to develop an understanding of, Department of Defence processes and priorities.
This role requires the ability to work collaboratively within a small team. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is key to this role.
Our ideal candidate must be highly organised, have the ability to manage competing priorities and possess excellent attention to detail with strong verbal and written communication skills. This role requires an ability to work independently and possession of strong liaison skills to work effectively across the Group and Defence more broadly.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at 'Negative Vetting Level 1'.
