The Role
Are you a high performing and motivated individual with program Risk and/or benefits management experience that has a passion for improving workforce wellbeing?
As a member of Mental Health and Wellbeing Branch you will contribute to the management and progression of vital mental health and wellbeing programs, projects and initiatives though Risk and Benefits support. This will involve identifying and reviewing risks and Benefits, and providing management options to risk owners that include targeted treatments, controls and mitigations.
The Risk and Benefits Manager ensures risk briefs and documents meet specified requirements and are prepared in a timely and effective manner. Risk and Benefits outcomes will be guided by leadership priorities and will require broad engagement with a variety of stakeholders to inform outcomes.
As the Risk and Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting MH&W Program and Project Managers with developing and maintaining risk management documentation including risk management plans and risk registers
- Working collaboratively with MH&W Program and Project Managers to identify, analyse, treat and control program/project risks
- Supporting MH&W Program and Project Managers with developing and maintaining benefit documentation including benefit realisation and management plans.
- Supporting identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks across the programs by engaging with stakeholders, preparing risk reporting, and identifying escalation points.
- Assisting in reviewing, updating, and maintaining program policies related to governance and assurance. This may involve keeping up to date on best practice, drafting amendments, and conducting gap analyses.
- Identifying and reviewing capability risks against Action Plans and providing management options to risk owner, which include treatments, controls and mitigations.
About our Team
The Mental Health and Wellbeing (MH&W) Branch was recently established and is the principal lead to align MH&W programs, policies and services across the Defence Enterprise, and acts as the catalyst for change to achieve improvements in workforce wellbeing.
The Branch is situated within the People Strategy Organisation and comprises of an inter-disciplinary team focused on improving the MH&W of the Defence and Veteran community.
The MH&W PMO is responsible for directing, leading and reporting on MH&W program progression and reform and prioritising and sequencing MH&W programs in consultation with the Services (Army, Navy and Air Force), other Defence Groups and the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (RCDVS) Taskforce PMO.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Risk identification and analysis and/or benefit realisation and management within a program/project context and have a passion for improving workforce wellbeing
- Working collaboratively and collegiately with both internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated high level communication (both written and oral), networking and liaison skills, and
- Demonstrated agility and flexibility with respect to tasking.
- A proficient Risk and performance professional experienced in managing performance and risk.
- Proficient in the use of various risk methodologies, including bow ties risk assessments, and have sufficient knowledge and experience to apply the most appropriate assessment and methodology to manage risk Forward thinking with a holistic approach
- Able to work effectively with all levels of an organisation.
- Team focused who supports information flow to ensure consistency; efficiencies and continuous improvements are achievable within the worplace.
- Certification with a recognised risk body is highly desirable, but is not essential.
