About the Role:

The Senior Events Officer is a pivotal role within our Australian Government client's Department. With the potential to work across the team’s service offer, this position requires a skilled professional with a strong background in event management, capable of planning, executing, and evaluating a diverse range of events to ensure their success.

As the Senior Event Officer, you will be at the forefront of event planning and organisation, playing a crucial role in shaping the client's presence in industry summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums.

With a focus on delivering exceptional experiences, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align event objectives with the client's business goals, ensuring that each event serves as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and engagement. 


Duties:

  • Advocate for, and enact, best practice accessibility at the events we attend to ensure all attendees have equal participation.
  • Plan and organise events, including summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums.
  • Identify event objectives, create timelines, and coordinate logistics including venues, catering, and audio-visual requirements.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Monitor event budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Follow best practice guidelines to achieve brand consistency and engagement for printed and online event materials.
  • Liaise with venues on event logistics and provide detailed calendar invites with all information required for the event.
  • Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Gather feedback from attendees post-event to prepare comprehensive reports that identify areas of improvement and provide recommendations for future events. 


Required experience and skills for this Role include:

  • Relevant experience in event management, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.
  • Able to negotiate effectively by listening to differing ideas and views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counterarguments.

Desirable experience and skills for the Role include:

  • Proficiency in risk assessment and management, ensuring events comply with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Public service or large organisational experience.
  • Strong project management skills.
