The Role
We are seeking to recruit a professional and experienced Senior Administration Officer for a fantastic opportunity within the Directorate of Recruiting Health Services (DRHS) at Defence Force Recruiting.
The position requires an individual with strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a busy environment, meet deadlines and prioritise work commitments.
In this role you will:
- Be an effective team leader to build a collaborative culture of the medical administrative team. Supervise and support APS 4 and APS 5 team members for professional development and administrative processes.
- Be accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor team members to create and maintain a high performing team.
- Be accountable to allocate work, resources and tasks, set work area priorities, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve business processes.
- Assist the section in planning, organising and delivering Quality Management plans.
- Undertaking visits to services to conduct site audits and performance assessments.
- Travel (within state and interstate) may be required for the role including overnight travel.
About our Team
Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) is a public-private collaboration between Defence and the capability partners providing recruiting services to the Australian Defence Force in accordance with standards and policies set by the Navy, Army and Air Force.
Recruiting services are delivered using a mix of military, APS and contractor staff operating in a high energy, multi-vendor environment which is responsible for directly delivering capability to the Australian Defence Force.
The Defence Recruiting Health Service (DRHS) team is a multidiscipline health team comprised of medical officers, psychologists and administrative staff.
The DRHS team is directly responsible for providing direction to sixteen Defence Force Recruiting Centres for candidates who have been identified as having a complex medical condition, so as to determine their medical suitability for military service.

- Be comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders and understand the importance of service delivery and meeting deadlines.
- Have significant previous experience in planning, managing and performing business support; and clerical, administrative and managerial activities including human resources, quality management, finance, Facilities audits, travel, records management amongst other administrative tasks.
- Expertise in quality management, process design and process improvement with high level attention to detail and accuracy in work undertaken.
