The opportunity we have available
The Online Safety, Media and Platforms Division, provides advice to Government on policy issues which affect the lives of all Australians, including broadcast TV, news media, Online Safety and digital platforms. We cover a broad range of issues, and lead the development of policy and regulatory responses which:
  • Ensure all Australians can connect to media and online services safely
  • Foster access and inclusiveness and underpin sustainable economic benefits to the community
  • Protect and promote Australian news, culture, community identity and media diversity to support and inform democracy and civil engagement
  • Sustain an efficient, vibrant and resilient Australian media industry

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and capable person to fill the role of Senior Divisional Coordinator. This position is located in the Divisional Support Team, and reports to the Executive Officer. You'll work collaboratively across the division's Executive team to deliver a high level of administrative services to support delivery of business priorities and to support organisational objectives.
In this role, you'll be required to perform duties in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, and:
  • Lead a small team managing coordination and corporate reporting activities, including Senate Estimates
  • Manage and add value to more complex coordination and corporate reporting requests
  • Manage divisional recruitment activities and support recruitment panels
  • Assist with divisional management and organisational matters, including communications activities
  • Advocate for the division and its needs across various corporate meetings and report on these
  • Contribute to shaping initiatives which improve working practices and promote a focus on culture and staff wellbeing.

Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
  • Capacity to achieve results and quality outcomes by showing initiative and leadership, working in a small team delivering multiple activities at any given time, often within tight timeframes.
  • Effective communication both written and verbal, delivering information in a variety of formats for a range of audiences.
  • Stakeholder engagement to build and manage effective partnerships that engage stakeholders in understanding the issues, identifying innovative solutions and in supporting implementation.
  • Technical Knowledge of organisational management policies and processes and experience in interpreting these and providing advice to senior officers in a work environment. Experience in working in an administration and/or divisional support team highly desirable.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to evaluate complex information from a variety of sources to make connections and sound decisions while exercising good judgement.
  • Self-awareness and a commitment to personal development.
