Job description

The role: 
As an Artillery Operator, you will be critical to helping your team provide vital artillery support to succeed in combat operations. You’ll be responsible for setting up, reloading, aiming and firing artillery weaponry, utilising digital firing data to engage targets up to 30 kilometres away with a variety of ammunition types. 


Your duties include, but aren’t limited to:  

  • Set up, apply firing data to aim, load, and fire the incredibly powerful M777 155mm Howitzer 
  • Safely handle, prepare and store artillery ammunition - including high air and ground burst, illumination, smoke and precision-guided rounds 
  • Maintain, service and prepare artillery equipment for deployment 
  • Drive, service and maintain cross-country vehicles (if selected for additional driver training) 
  • Conduct general soldiering duties such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging vehicles and field equipment, and navigation

Location:  
Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in North QLD, QLD and the NT.  


Salary:  
In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $54,815 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training. 

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $73,750 per annum plus generous super.
