About the role
Thiess is seeking an Asset Estimating Specialist to join our team at our newly renovated Head Office in South Bank, Brisbane. As Asset Estimating Specialist, you will play a vital part in the organisation by developing accurate plant rates and maintenance cost estimates for tenders. Additionally, you will analyse project costs and provide essential input for asset selection. You will play a part in workshop infrastructure design and support asset management administration processes. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Additionally, you will:

• Develop plant rates and maintenance cost estimates for tenders as required.
• Carry out periodic and as required adjustment of plant rates on existing projects for break-even results.
• Analyse project costs for monthly result reviews and tender benchmarking.
• Complete asset life reviews considering operating costs, major component cycles, ownership costs, and overhaul requirements.
• Provide input into asset selection for new work based on idle or new fleet availability, considering productivity, reliability, and cost.
• Specify workshop infrastructure design including tooling and support equipment for effective maintenance of mobile fleet on existing and new projects.
• Support Operations and Asset team in asset management administration process (asset setup, movements, capitalization, strategies, budgets).

About you

• You will have completed a trade qualification or university degree with experience or interests in finance, business development, asset management, accounting or another business-related field.
• You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). Macro/VBA experience would be beneficial.
• You are self-motivated with a desire to continuously develop and improve your skillset.
• You have an awareness and understanding of operational maintenance requirements.
• You are experienced in using JDE or similar computerised maintenance management systems.
• You have experience in an operational role heavy mobile equipment maintenance (preferred).
