We have a rare opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. Our Finance team is an integral part of ACA that supports all areas of the organisation, including assessing financial implications to our members, strategic decision making and ensuring that we continue to be in a strong financial position for our members.

So what’s the role about?
Working closely with the CFO, this role will support in the day to day finance operations of the ACA including creditor control, bank reconciliations, monthly department and board reporting and preparation of monthly payroll
Some key responsibilities of the role include;
- Maintain accurate and timely processing of creditors invoices and employee credit cards
- Assisting with the fortnightly creditors payment process
- Prepare departmental report production and variance analysis to budget
- Examining and processing expenses submitted by employees
- Preparation of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
- Meet with department heads on a monthly basis to discuss budget performance
- Assisting in the monthly processing of payroll including ensuring employer superannuation obligations are met
- Ensure month end journals, work papers and reconciliations are timely and accurate
- Identifying and implementing efficiencies with current processes and procedures
About You
- Prior demonstrated experience in an assistant accountant role
- Sound knowledge of accounting practices and relevant standards
- Proficient with cloud-based accounting software (i.e. Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax) & Microsoft Office
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to work flexibly under minimal supervision
- Strong team player who displays a positive can-do attitude
- Sound knowledge of accounting practices and relevant standards
Preferred but not essential
- Undergraduate Accounting/Commerce/business degree ideal but not essential
- CA/CPA qualification (or studying towards)
