Perth Markets Group Limited is an unlisted public company, landowner, property developer and manager. Steeped in history dating back to 1897, Perth Markets and Market City support a diverse array of businesses involved in wholesale fresh produce trading, food retailing, business service provision and weekend consumer markets.
Set on a landmark 51ha corner site in Canning Vale, with over 10 hectares of greenfield developable land, the Perth Markets site contains the only wholesale fresh produce market in the state. It plays a critical role in supplying approximately $1B of wholesale trade value annually, making a significant contribution to the State’s economy, communities and families throughout the State.
The opportunity
Working on the client side representing the owner/developer and reporting to the Chief Property Officer, this is a unique opportunity to be a part of a team that is actively developing multiple asset classes including new industrial, retail and commercial property assets.
You will be involved in a broad range of development activities for the portfolio, including tenant briefs, coordinating and procuring project consultant resources, progressing design concepts, project feasibilities and funding applications, planning and development approvals, directing consultant design teams, tendering and negotiations with preferred contractors and involvement in delivery.
You will have a proactive, professional and customer focussed mindset and be equally comfortable interfacing in the office with peers and tenants or onsite with a variety of clients, consultants and builders.
Your enthusiasm and attention to detail, aligned with your desire to create solutions and efficiency, will be crucial in day-to-day activities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills will be critical in working constructively in the delivery of new property assets.

Your demonstrated yet diverse experience includes:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a development role and/or project management related role within the property sector or in a client-side role.
- Robust property development knowledge that includes understanding design, approval, procurement, and delivery.
- Demonstrated project exposure to developments in either the industrial, retail and commercial space.
- Proven experience in engaging and managing external consultants and contractors with strong project scheduling, cost control and reporting capabilities.
- Working with senior leaders in relation to strategic development and delivery issues including contributing to strategic planning, annual budgets and project feasibilities.
- The ability to contribute to a culture of safety and construction quality excellence.
And can also demonstrate:
- Ability to organise, make decisions with confidence and take control of project development responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail
- Technological smarts and capabilities using Microsoft office products
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Property, Planning, Building Construction, Engineering or other)
- Exceptional time management
- Excellent communication skills with a willingness and ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Adept at reviewing and working with a range of project legal documentation
