An exciting opportunity to join the National Multicultural Festival to lead one of our community’s most beloved events!
The National Multicultural Festival (the festival) is hugely popular high-profile major event held each year in the Canberra CBD. The festival forms a key part of the events calendar for the ACT Government and serves as an important platform for the multicultural community to showcase their cultural traditions and heritage through food, music and dance and social interaction.
As the Assistant Director, Creative and Engagement, you’ll lead a small team to drive program management, community consultation, volunteer coordination and sponsorship acquisition. If you’re passionate about event planning and making a difference to the diverse and multicultural Canberra community, this role is for you!
The festival requires year-round planning to engage and accommodate the over 300 multicultural and community groups who participate in performances or stalls; to attract the many volunteers needed to support the event; and manage all the necessary logistics, including any Public Health Directions safety measures to cater to the large crowds who attend over the event weekend. Realising the goals of the 2025 Major Events Strategy for the ACT, coupled with requirements of Australia’s Strategy for the Protection of Crowded Places from Terrorism 2017 all require that the festival be appropriately managed and delivered.
