ABOUT THE ROLES
Assistant Employment Screening Officers and Employment Screening Officers form part of a team led by the Senior Employment Screening Officer in undertaking Employment Screening of prospective employees, contractors and volunteers as well as the re-screening of current employees.
Assistant Employment Screening Officers (L2) have a range of responsibilities in processing employment screens being undertaken. Records Management is an important component of the role. The position involves operating a number of online systems that support the obtaining of information required for Employment Screening. This includes criminal history checks, integrity declarations and online information management systems. The role requires the position holder to communicate with applicants and service providers by telephone and in written communications.
Employment Screening Officers (L3) are also involved in processing employment screens being undertaken. The position holder assesses information received from applicants and other information sources, determining whether the applicant meets the required integrity standards for employment or engagement with the Department, or whether the application needs to be referred to a senior officer for further review. The role requires the position holder to make cogent decisions.
The Employment Screening Unit handles a high volume of work. Familiarity with a range of online systems, strong team skills, a strong customer service "can do" attitude and a liking for working in an environment where the work being undertaken forms part of a process that is repeated for each Employment Screening application processed will make you a strong candidate for these roles.

ELIGIBILITY
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining a Negative Vetting Level One security clearance as a condition of employment and maintain the clearance for the duration of their employment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold the Negative Vetting Level One security clearance.
Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
