The Role

We are looking for an experienced Events Assistant Manager who is highly motivated and has a strong understanding of restaurants, functions and general operations to work across all our stunning events spaces including In-grounds events within the Zoo. You are a professional who can work with little supervision in supporting the Events Operations Manager with daily operations and closing the venue. Please note this is a full-time position.

This is also suitable for someone seeking a next step in their career if you’ve had considerable amount of experience in events in a Supervisory role and want to move up to an Assistant Manager role.

To ensure your success in this role you will have:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in running functions, restaurant and managing staff.
• Be hands on running the floor and be the face of the venue
• Manage functions from set up, to execution and break down
• Ability to lead a team, be hands on with management skills
• Propose ideas to improve the event execution, service and presentation
• Passion and excellent knowledge of great quality food, beverage and service
• Exceptional customer service and guest relations
• Excellent communication skills, time management and dedication
• Immaculate grooming and presentation
• Flexible hours – work nights and weekends when required
• RSA certificate

The ideal candidate should also have a love for animals and an appreciation for their role in enhancing the overall guest experience at the zoo. Additionally, experience working in a 5-star hotel or fine dining establishment is a plus, as it demonstrates a commitment to providing exceptional service and attention to detail.
