JOB DESCRIPTION
Peppers Silo Hotel is an inspiring $30 million redevelopment of the Kings Wharf grain silos in Launceston, Tasmania. The nine-storey hotel consists of 108 rooms, including 52 in the barrels of the former silos, and overlooks the nearby tourist drawcards of Seaport, Royal Park, the Tamar River Basin and Cataract Gorge. On our ground floor you will find Silo Day Spa, and Level 1 you will find Grain of the Silos offering dining experiences across the restaurant, café and Woody's Bar where local produce is at the heart of all creations.
Launceston, the largest city in northern Tasmania is a gastronomic hub and offers a diverse range of wineries, distilleries, markets and art galleries to explore during your down time. PurposeAs the Assistant Manager for Food & Beverage – Conference & Events, your primary goal is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of Peppers Silo’s conferencing and events. This role goes beyond mere oversight; it's about immersion, hands-on involvement, and embracing a customer-centric ethos.
You will set the standard high for our team, leading by example to ensure our brand standards are not just met but exceeded every single day. Primary ResponsibilitiesManaging bespoke conference and events daily operations, actively participating during peak hours as a hands-on leader
Meet & Greet organisers and review event expectations and respond to any requested changes to ensure seamless delivery
Manage and supervise tasks of staff to ensure that highest quality service is delivered and department standards are met
Review and implement Procedures across the Conference & Events department
Communicate with the F&B Manager and Conference & Events Manager on all matters regarding event operations and service
Roster and schedule team members based on forward event bookings
Train and develop team members in the set-up, execution & breakdown of events and event spaces
Maintain all equipment in working order, raise any shortages or anticipated shortages and assist in rectification, repair or ordering
Coordinate and communicate with other hotel departments as required regarding general administration and operations issues
Provide management presence at all times by assisting with the handling of guests’ needs and complaints tactfully and efficiently Skills and ExperiencePrior experience in leading and supervising event departments and teams in a Food & Beverage environment in medium to large hotel of 4 star standard and above
Flexibility to accommodate a varied work schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
Exceptional organisational skills with a knack for prioritisation and a keen sense of urgency
Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and effectiveness when faced with high-pressure situations
Possession of a valid RSA or an equivalent qualification for the specific Country / State / TerritoryProven track record in managing budgets, overseeing inventory, and creating staff schedules
