- Single enterprise with scale and structure
- Contractors engaged for large tasks
- Quality undercover yards and extensive laneways
Our clients operate a successful and respected composite sheep business, producing 15,000 lambs from 10,500 ewes annually on 6,000 acres of the historical home block close to Balmoral in Victoria. A percentage of lambs are finished on a southern block for commercial markets, which may require an occasional overnight stay in Port Campbell.
The tightly managed program ensures plenty of work for your small, quality team of working dogs, with contractors engaged for crutching, pre-lambing drenching, and other large tasks. Undercover yards with auto draft and quality equipment also ensure a safe and enjoyable work environment, with pride having been taken in developing fencing, lanes, yards, plant, and equipment, which are all maintained by staff.
This role will offer both autonomy and accountability; working directly alongside the owners, you will be provided responsibility and independence. Candidates will have considerable experience and knowledge in all aspects of sheep husbandry and will be involved in all tasks, including stock movements, processing, feeding and maintenance. It is also important to have strong communication and record-keeping skills, as although this is a busy and vast farm, you will appreciate being a part of the structured, well-planned, and documented framework that our clients offer.
The Offer
You will negotiate a salary package reflective of your skills and experience, complemented with private accommodation suitable for singles or couples in a beautiful location just 5 minutes away from the town of Balmoral in Victoria, which provides a primary school and small-scale shopping facilities. Plus, all major services can be found in Hamilton, which is a 45-minute drive away.
