THE ROLE

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, the primary focus of the Quarry Management team is the safe and efficient supervision of operations of our Truro Quarry. You will have a genuine interest in the day-to-day leadership, supervision and challenges of running a hard rock quarry operation, including responsibility for safety performance, production targets, quality control, and continuous improvement. As the Assistant Quarry Manager, you will have an uncompromising and overriding commitment to safety and the ability to support and lead the safety performance and culture of the entire team and the site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIIES

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, other responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Implement strategies to achieve WH&S, production and financial performance targets.
  • Assist with leading, training and developing the team
  • Develop, implement and review quarry development and production plans for the Quarry.
  • Ensure all quarry materials and stockpiles meet Australian Standards, DIT and customer specifications.
  • Provide leadership to ensure all operations are conducted safely in accordance with legislation and Hallett Group standards of OH&S.
  • Supporting your team to understand and meet all quality, policy and procedure requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Cert IV in Surface Operations / Extractive Industries or equivalent (preferred);
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and strong communication skills;
  • Minimum 5 years practical and supervisory experience (preferable) in hard rock quarry or mining operations including managing drill and blast, load and haul and crushing and screening operations;
  • Demonstrated WHS focus and knowledge of the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for production equipment
  • Experience in continuous improvement strategies and
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the business
