  • Make a real impact on resident experience and create an environment where students love to live.
Why UniLodge

UniLodge specialise in student accommodation and have been an industry market leader since 1996. The UniLodge Group manages a diverse portfolio of close to 130 properties and hotels with a footprint in every city in mainland Australia and New Zealand. We employ a team of over 1200 people who are dedicated to our vision, “To build inclusive communities for inspired living”.

Across our workforce we have built an enviable culture of trust, engagement, collaboration, and fun. Our residents come from diverse backgrounds, and we want our teams to reflect this. Our people are the heart of our business, and their contributions are valued and celebrated. We invest in the wellbeing and professional development of our team, offering access to ongoing training and career growth opportunities, performance recognition programs, and tools and resources to support mental health and wellbeing. And because everyone leads unique lives, we offer various leave options including study leave, parental leave entitlements, etc.

What the role is all about

As the Assistant Residential Life Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating the coordination of the residence as a community under the guidance of the Residential Life Manager (RLM). Your role is instrumental in assisting the RLM to deliver the Residential Life and Wellbeing Program; and to ensure residential wellbeing is managed, with emphasis on pastoral care and academic matters. Our program aims to offer an array of diverse, fun, and inclusive events hoping to tailor to each resident in one way or another. You will have the opportunity to develop and organise a holistic calendar of events for residents, to enrich their educational, cultural, and social experience. If you care about people and want to support them to succeed in life and academia this may be the perfect role for you.

You help to support a high performing Residential Life team, and develop and nurture a culture within the community. You will lead in the delivery of exceptional service to all stakeholder groups and play an active role in the emergency response team during shift times and after-hours.

If you are someone who enjoys working varied hours and can deal with being flat out sometimes and not so busy other times, you might be the candidate we are looking for. Whilst the core hours of the role are Monday to Friday, we are looking for someone who is flexible to work evenings and weekends to attend functions or support residents in need.

What we need from you

You are passionate about delivering a fun and memorable experience for our residents. You will be enthusiastic and creative in your event planning - always considering the student experience. It is important that you demonstrate a solid understanding of the complexities of university life, and operational aspects of residential living to align with the university’s student experience framework. To succeed in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a focus on leadership, wellbeing, and mental health in a university/youth environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in event management, including budgets, planning and implementation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of competency in a range of software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict in a diverse environment.
