AddressRoyal Military College Golf Club is a 9 hole short course golf course located within the beautiful heritage grounds of the Royal Military College Duntroon, Canberra. The club has approximately 450 members running men’s and women’s golf competitions through-out the week and weekend.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent who loves golf courses and working outdoors. The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for managing all aspects of golf course maintenance, as well as assisting in a number of strategic planning initiatives for course improvements. Reporting directly to the Grounds Superintendent, this position will also be responsible for leading and motivating volunteers and overseeing all course operations in the absence of the Superintendent. Equally important is the upkeep and service of machinery and maintaining general maintenance of this equipment to perform daily tasks.
Desired Attributes
- Certificate 3 in Sports Turf Management,
- Recognized AQF3 Chemical Certification
- Self-motivated with a hands-on ‘can do’ attitude and high attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and prepared to work weekends when required
- Have a knowledge of all aspects of irrigation, including installation, repairs, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Experience operating all turf equipment
- Proven ability to work and troubleshoot arising issues
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound knowledge of both Workplace Safety and Environmental Management
- Experience in Turf construction is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Preparing and maintaining all aspects of turf, greens, fairways, tees and rough
- Preparing and maintaining bunkers
- Maintaining garden beds, hedging, pruning and planting
- Chemical application; Boom sprayer and knapsack.
- Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery
- Responsible for OH&S management outdoors
- Supervision and training of volunteers
- Operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment and drainage systems.
