What’s the job?

We are seeking an innovative and ambitious candidate who will provide the strategic and scholarly leadership for all Teaching and Learning initiatives in the Faculty of Design and Creative Technology and drive continuous improvement and innovation. The academic appointment is at an Associate Professor or Professor level depending on the background, experience, and credibility of each candidate. All candidates should have a disciplinary background in design, architecture, creative media or information technology, and have the necessary skills and experience to work across inter-disciplinary environments.

This is a national role that has responsibility for overseeing the quality of Teaching and Learning with staff and students across Australia and offshore. The substantive position is an Associate Professor or Professor position, so this is fantastic opportunity for someone to progress their academic career. The role is responsible for leading initiatives to improve the quality of Teaching and Learning, student satisfaction, retention and progression, and provide academic leadership for the scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

The role is full time permanent and can either based in either our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane campus. Flexible work arrangements are possible (the team currently works on a hybrid model). We are looking for someone who can start in April 2024.

Who you are

  • PhD qualification with a track record of research outputs and/or research income.

  • A track record of leadership in tertiary education including contribution to policies, processes and governance within a tertiary institution.

  • Demonstrated evidence of participating in learning and teaching benchmarking activities, participating in national bodies associated with improving learning and Teaching and/or national teaching projects.

  • Demonstrated experience of leading research-informed initiatives to drive innovation and quality in Teaching and Learning.

  • Strong understanding of data and the ability to use and analyse various data sets related to student, course and institutional performance.

  • A track record for sound governance and an understanding of the indicators and drivers for high quality educational experiences and outcomes.

  • Demonstrated track record in leading professional development and scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

  • Demonstrated experience of leading change initiatives at a Department, School or Faculty level that led towards positive outcomes.

  • Strong demonstration of time-management, project management and demonstrated track record of engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders (including formal governance committees)
