- Contribute to research-led teaching,
- Provide leadership in teaching and/or research within the Discipline and Faculty.
- Undertake unit and course coordination as required.
- Promote and support excellence in disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities/scholarship.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key external and professional stakeholders.
- Collaboratively develop curricula with Optometry colleagues ensuring accreditation requirements are met.
- Provide student support and guidance.
- Undertake continual professional development in education innovation.
- Engage in and enhance a track record of collaborative, multidisciplinary research through publications and grants.
- Attract higher degree research students and provide high-quality research supervision.
- PhD in Optometry or a related field.
- Registration with AHPRA as an optometrist in Australia (desirable not essential).
- Endorsement to prescribe ocular therapeutic drugs in Australia (desirable not essential).
- Experience teaching with expertise in Optometry and Vision Science, (ideally within optics, low vision, binocular vision, and/or environmental optometry).
- Capacity and commitment to contribute to traditional and flexible modes of academic program development and delivery, potentially including online formats.
- Demonstrated track record in research with high-quality and high-impact outcomes, including publications and grants.
- Experience in recruiting and supervising higher degree research students.
- Experience in mentoring junior academics.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding.
