About the Position

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine invites applications from qualified candidates interested in joining the Occupational Therapy program in the position of Associate Professor. The discipline takes an innovative approach to Occupational Therapy education, offering a Master of Occupational Therapy and a newly created Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy. The programs have relevant accreditation with the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia, WFOT, and have recently been fully accredited for seven years by ACOTE in the United States.

The position will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Master of Occupational Therapy and Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs, supervise the clinical and/or industry research activities of Occupational Therapy students, and teach across the breadth of Occupational Therapy with emphasis dependent on area of specialty. We offer opportunities for successful candidates to develop research interests that are aligned with those within the Occupational Therapy team and broader Faculty.  

The position is expected to provide significant leadership in research and scholarship, teaching, academic administration, and community engagement across the discipline, Faculty and, more broadly, the University. The role will emphasise the development of research within the discipline.

About the person

The successful candidate will be registered or eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist in Australia. The candidates will also typically hold a Doctoral qualification.

Further candidates will have a track record of effective teaching, learning, scholarship, or research appropriate for an Associate Professor position. They will also have experience in academic administration within the higher education sector and well-developed leadership, management, and team-building skills.

Registration as an Occupational Therapist (or eligibility) in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is essential for this position.

Salary details

The salary for the Associate Professor (Level B) position commences at $162,466.69 plus 17.5% superannuation. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.  

This position is based at The Bond Institute of Health and Sport, Robina, located in the Robina Health precinct. The complex has world-class teaching facilities. These include a teaching kitchen, gait lab, simulated hospital ward, activities of daily living lab and work play lab, the latest technology, and interprofessional learning spaces. Some travel between Bond University locations is required.
