ABOUT THE SCHOOL 

The School of Nursing and Midwifery offers undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing programs that are highly regarded by the profession and a range of postgraduate coursework and nursing research programs. The School benefits from strong relationship with industry with some post graduate programs offered as industry partnerships. Graduates from the School of Nursing are well respected by the profession. 

ABOUT THE ROLE       

The Rural and Remote Nursing Lead is expected to provide high level academic leadership and to have an established reputation in terms of their own research and teaching. The role fulfills the accountabilities as the program coordinator for the School’s Rural and Remote Programs.

Key Responsibilities       

  • Select and recruit students into Broome nursing and midwifery programs and actively market the programs in order to grow student enrolments.
  • Ensure nursing and midwifery cross campus and interprofessional collaboration in curriculum development, teaching, learning and assessment in collaboration with the National Head of School.
  • In collaboration with the school’s leadership group, develop initiatives to continuously improve the provision of a high-quality student learning experience and ensure that the programs meet students’ and employers’ expectations with respect to content and quality, and are well regarded by academic peers.
  • Provide local expertise to the School of Nursing and Midwifery on matters related to Kimberley nursing workforce issues that may be of relevance to their delivery of high-quality programs through the Broome campus, and provide local expertise to Faculty leadership on strategic opportunities to grow UNDA Nursing and Midwifery offerings in the Kimberley
  • Lead the Schools nursing and midwifery teaching team to contribute to the delivery of high quality nursing and midwifery education through the Broome campus.
  • Contribute to School leadership and administration to ensure that teaching activities are delivered with quality, and are seamlessly integrated with metropolitan teaching activities.
  • In conjunction with the Majarlin Rural and Remote Nursing Lead, the Majarlin Director, and the School of Nursing National Head of School, ensure complementary integration of the Schools Broome-based activities, and Majarlin’s rural and remote workforce activities.

Leadership

  • Make a strong contribution to the research and/or scholarship and/or teaching and administration  activities of an organisational unit, including a large organisational unit, or interdisciplinary area. PhD Qualification.
  • High level academic and strategic leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, particularly with respect to building and leading teams
  • Organisational and staff management skills
  • Commitment to principles of equity and diversity Research and Scholarship
  • Demonstrate a strong research track record displaying ability to publish in high quality academic  journals, to obtain research funding and to have attained international recognition for their work
  • Show evidence of a willingness to direct and supervise honours and postgraduate research students.

Research, Education and Service

  • Provide evidence of commitment to high quality teaching including the development of curriculum and initiatives in effective learning.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be involved in School policy development and administrative matters.
  • Show a willingness to liaise with members of the community, professional and relevant industry bodies.

ABOUT YOU       

  • Possession of a doctoral qualification and a recognised record of scholarly achievement.
  • Successful track record of higher education leadership and management.
  • Current AHPRA registration in Nursing.
  • Demonstrated track record in the scholarship of learning and teaching, with a focus on best practice pedagogies, digital approaches and related industry engagement
  • Excellent grasp of the tertiary education sector, and sound appreciation of the demands of managing and flourishing a growing School in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and a successful track record in the development, implementation, and evaluation of organisational change in a national, multi campus and multi State context, demonstrating commercial acumen and alignment to performance goals.
  • Strong management skills and a successful track record in the development, implementation, and evaluation of organisational change in a national, multi campus and multi State context, demonstrating commercial acumen and alignment to performance goals.
  • Well-developed capability to contribute and drive excellence in teaching and learning, research, stakeholder engagement throughout the School, and collaboration across the Faculty and University.
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching and mentoring staff, student, and external stakeholders to ensure engagement to plan and prepare for organisational change that actively seeks opportunities for improvement.
  • Teaching experience and experience in research.
