Join us on the journey and help us achieve our strategic drives embedded in our One of the drivers “Thriving place to Study and Work” will enable us to continue to create places that our students and staff love to belong and feel immense pride.About the Role:The overall purpose of the Associate Professor/ Professor of Social Work position is to provide academic leadership in the Social Work Unit at Victoria University, to innovate and promote the scholarship of teaching, learning and research in Social Work and to support the College Senior Leadership Team in developing the discipline of Social Work.The Associate Professor/ Professor of Social Work will be expected to take on the role of Head of Social Work at Victoria University. This will include active participation in decisions relating to resource development and budgetary allocations for courses offered within the Social Work discipline. It will also include taking responsibility for liaising with the accrediting association, the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The Associate Professor/ Professor of Social Work will oversee and coordinate all activities to ensure the development of the Social Work discipline and ongoing accreditation of all Social Work programs offered at Victoria University.This is a full-time continuing position (Teaching and Research) at an Academic Level D $155,850 - $171,696 OR Academic Level E $200,759 working 36.75 (1.0FTE) hours per week.Duties:Some of the duties you are expected to perform are:
  • Lead and develop the Social Work curriculum and related post graduate courses and oversee the governance structure of Social Work at Victoria University.
  • Assure that the delivery of the Social Work programs is conducted in accordance with accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative network of industry contacts.
  • Work with other staff in the College including (but not limited to) the College Senior Leadership Team to ensure that University policies are reflected in all relevant Social Work activities and thus are effectively delivered.
  • Prepare and deliver workshops, practical classes, demonstrations and clinical sessions.
  • Initiate, develop and conduct high quality research projects in collaboration with research leaders in the University, university key industry partners and other external organisations.
  • Develop, write and conduct research grants that attract external funding.
  • Contribute to the academic service, collegiality
  • and engagement, including efficient management of internal service role.
About You:The successful incumbent will have obtained recognition as an eminent authority in the discipline, will have achieved distinction at the national level and international level in a field relevant to Social Work. They will provide leadership in developing the research and teaching profile of Social Work at Victoria University both internally and externally with the Social Work community by actively engaging with academics, governments, industry and development partners within Australia and internationally. They will be someone with energy who is innovative, progressive and collaborative in the way they work.
