Purpose of Position:
Hexagon Mining in partnership with our client will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. Hexagon Mining has multiple exciting opportunities for an Autonomous Offboard Engineer's to join our team full-time in Western Australia on this cutting-edge Autonomous Road Trains project. The Autonomous Offboard Engineers will be deploying, supporting and maintaining all the Offboard Automation Systems (servers, networks, software). You will be an excellent team player and collaborator critical to this world-first projects success.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead the Offboard Technology detailed design collaborating with Hexagon and our client engineers
- Commission supplied server and network infrastructure to efficiently run Hexagon’s autonomous technology
- Coordinate implementation of software updates and patches
- Ongoing system monitoring and performance optimisation
- Provide a helpdesk to address user inquiries, troubleshoot system issues, and provide technical guidance.
- Primary technical liaison point with our client who provide the hosting and network infrastructure that operates the autonomous systems
- Implement and manage security measures to protect from un-authorised access, data breaches, and cyber threats
- We have both supervisor level and individual contributor roles available
- Tertiary qualifications or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, Networking, Applications or related discipline (or an equivalent level of industry experience)
- Experience in an IT/OT mining or heavy industry environment. Technical experience in Fleet Management, Mining Safety, Control Systems or other related operational technology
- Experience across different technical areas such as networks, databases, applications and hosting
- Experience establishing best-practice support and maintenance procedures focusing on MTTR and MTBF
- Experience establishing and monitoring security and change management controls
- Project experience deploying technical systems into remote environments
- Proven experience leading a team of fly-in-fly-out technical resources in a 24/7 operation
- Formal qualifications in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
- Experience working with autonomous mobile equipment
- Detailed understanding of information security best practices such as ISO 27001
We have both a Perth-based position that will require regular travel as well as fly-in-fly-out positions to Ashburton on an 8 and 6 roster for a healthy work-life balance.
