Job description

The Organisation

Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation responsible for the safe and efficient management of 11% of the world’s airspace and provision of Aviation rescue fire fighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.

The Opportunity

Aviation fire fighters provide rescue and first-aid services for aircraft passengers and crew, deliver technical advice on fire safety and assist in educating users about fire fighting and safety. Your duty is to respond to any and all emergencies that occur on the aerodrome, including first aid services, aircraft incidents and fires at airports. You will be required to carry out functions that are both physically and mentally challenging, whilst working to a roster ensuring a healthy work-life balance.

Location

We are currently looking to recruit for our Darwin Airport Station.

Earn as you learn

You will be required to commence a 15 week training program in September 2024 (RC101) where you will become skilled in aviation fire fighting, first aid and rescue before commencing as an operational aviation fire fighter. This training course will require you to relocate to Melbourne. The 15 week training program combines extensive theory components as well as practical training and is all paid and accommodation provided.  You will earn $48,622 per annum plus superannuation, with an increase to $68,094 per annum plus superannuation when you obtain your qualification. You will be issued a PUA20622 Certificate II in Public Safety (Fire fighting and Emergency Operations) upon graduation from our Registered Training Organisation (RTO 5168).
