The role:
We currently have an opportunity for an Aviation Safety Systems and Reporting Manager to join the organisation and be a key member of CareFlight’s Aviation Safety & Quality team. The role will suit an individual already well versed in all things safety system management and data analysis or a Safety Advisor/Officer looking to take the next step in their career.
Reporting to the Head of Aviation Safety and Quality, the key objective for this role will be to manage the day-to-day coordination of safety related aspects of the Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) suite, which includes the Aircraft Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Drug & Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) and Transport Security Plan (TSP) and producing high level data reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of safety data and analysis for monthly reporting requirements
- Coordinating and minute taking of Aviation Safety committee meetings and “Twice Weekly Risk Review” meetings
- Triaging and analysis of Air Maestro safety reports and providing feedback to reporters
- Maintaining and conducting internal audits of the SMS, TSP and DAMP
- Maintaining TSP training course material and maintaining course material and delivery of SMS training and associated exams
- Maintaining the emergency response and cyclone plans and participating in emergency exercises
- Responsibility of the management of change process
- Creation of safety promotions material including safety bulletins, alerts and external learnings
- Conducting safety investigations
- Participating in third-party audits as required
- Other ad hoc duties as requested by the Head of Aviation Safety and Quality
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Essential
- Aviation safety management experience
- Advanced skills in managing safety data and trend analysis using data visualisation tools
- A high degree of conceptual and analytical skills.
- Understanding of risk management principles and techniques to support a proactive SMS.
- Knowledge of Australian Aviation Safety and aviation security regulations.
- Experience using Air Maestro or other Aviation Safety databases
- Lead auditor qualification and demonstrated experience conducting internal audits.
- High attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate confidently, effectively, and positively with a wide range of people/cultural diversity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently, as required.
- Ability to conduct frequent travel
- Ability to hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Desirable
- PowerBI skills
- Aviation safety investigation experience and qualifications
- Change management experience.
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment
