Baggage Services Duty Manager – Australia/New Zealand
The Baggage Duty Manager serves as the primary contact for all baggage-related inquiries. This involves daily interaction with ground service providers such as Swissport, Planebiz, Hallmark Aviation, and oneworld codeshare partners. The successful applicant will ensure all local, transfer, rush baggage is accounted for and properly loaded onto Fiji Airways flights.
This role reports to the Head of Ground Operations Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Building a genuine rapport with ground handling and airline baggage teams.
- This role will be based in Sydney but responsible for oversight of baggage in Australian and New Zealand ports.
- Ensuring all transfer baggage is located, transferred, input into the international terminal sortation system, reconciled and loaded on to our aircraft (Sydney).
- Seek solutions to resolve issues promptly, escalating matters when necessary and reporting suspicious activities or potential security threats.
- Collaborating closely with other airline departments, such as Fiji Airways Operations Control Centre.
- Participating in ongoing training sessions and staying updated on airline policies, procedures, and customer service techniques.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Diploma in Aviation and/or Hospitality, or general management.
- Computer literate, preferably proficient with MS Office.
- CM & Altea Reservations.
- Expert knowledge in Worldtracer.
- Excellent communication skills.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a Baggage Services role.
- The ability to obtain an airside driving license would be an advantage.
- Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing outstanding service.
