Wrapper/Assistant - Maintains current product knowledge of Bakery items. Removes product from baking pans and garnishes. Weighs finished products and logs into records. Packages, wraps, and labels baked goods. Stocks and rotates Bakery products onto tables and pallets. Assists with other Bakery duties as assigned. Follows proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service. Cleans and sanitises Bakery area, Bakery Equipment, and Bakery utensils. Re-stocks necessary supplies and ingredients. Disposes of rubbish and logs sanitation procedures. Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
Cake Decorator - Cuts, fills, and masks cakes. Decorates and writes messages on cakes using pastry bags and tips. Packages cakes for special order and back stock. Assists with other Bakery duties as necessary. Follows proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
Stocker/Forklift Driver - Prepares Bakery for use. Stocks and rotates dated products and supplies. Ensures that the Bakery Department has the necessary ingredients, packaging and consumables to produce bakery related products. Assists with wrapping and merchandising baked goods. Follows proper safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
Supervisor - Oversees employees to ensure proper departmental production procedures and standards are followed. Participates in baking, decorating, wrapping and general sanitation duties. Checks quality and consistency of finished product. Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
Wrapper/Assistant:
- Maintains current product knowledge of Bakery items
- Moves product filled oven racks
- Removes product from baking pans and into packaging
- Garnishes baked goods according to item requirements
- Stacks used baking pans on pan dollies
- Scales finished product and records on weight verification sheet
- Packages and wraps baked goods by hand or with wrapping machine and label
- Moves wrapped products onto tables and/or stocks them on pallets
- Maintains pull dates
- Assists bakers and cake decorators with production on scratch and frozen items and follows production procedures and standards for quality and consistency of finished product
- Rotates and merchandises product throughout the day
- Follows Standard Sanitation Operation Procedure (SSOP) guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification and all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department
- Assists with other Bakery duties and in other departments of the warehouse as required
- Cleans and sanitises the Bakery area - sweeps, mops, sprays, washes, applies cleaning agents, wipes, and operates pressure washer, cleans and refills mop bucket, cleans mop head
- Dismantles Bakery equipment - washes, rinses, and sanitises removable parts, wipes down stationary parts
- Washes Bakery containers and utensils - restocks baking supplies and industrial-sized containers of ingredients
- Collects cardboard and rubbish, operates rubbish compactor and cardboard baler, takes laundry to service pick up area
- Logs sanitation procedures performed on daily report and complies with health codes
- Follows proper Bakery and general safety and security procedures and standards
- Reads labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers
- Checks cake order stand for special orders
- Checks production schedule for daily needs
- Pulls stock from freezer or cooler to fill merchandising area
- Removes product from pans
- Garnishes and packages baked cheesecakes, seasonal pies, and cakes.
- Processes all cakes following assembly instruction in Cake Decorating Manual
- Places finished product on racks and transfer racks to the cooler, freezer, or wrapping area
- Keeps decorating area clean and clear of debris
- Ensure the correct date and labelling is being completed
- Follows proper Bakery Department, safety, and security procedures and standards
- Follows Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification and, all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department
- Assists with other bakery duties as needed
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers
- Prepares Bakery for use
- Starts up equipment when required
- Checks production schedules and pulls first bake of frozen items
- Fulfils drop list needs and stocks in proper storage area
- Rotates all dated product
- Restocks and consolidates remaining items left on pallets for safe conveyance by the forklift operator
- Marks any freezer to cooler items with Bin Tag
- Refers to Production Bench Manual when panning up frozen items
- Follows Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department
- Assists with wrapping, merchandising, and other Bakery duties as needed
- Assists in other areas and departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to drivers, members, employees, and suppliers
- Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Bakery personnel
- Provides feedback to promote team work and accountability among employees
- Interactively monitors Bakery employee performance and participates in performance reviews as needed
- Assists in rostering and minimising Damaged & Destroyed products in the department
- Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards
- Monitors health code compliance
- Coordinates activities to achieve sales and merchandising goals for department
- Checks quality and consistency of finished product
- Oversees and participates in product presentation and merchandising
- Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and implements
- Assists with physical inventory periodically
- Assists with orders to Buying Office for equipment, product, and supplies
- Follows Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines for proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department

Education/Training:
- High School Certificate or higher; or relevant apprenticeship (Trade Certificate)
- None, or;
- Relevant apprenticeship (Trade Certificate)
- Trade Qualification (Baker)
- Forklift licence
- Bakery, stocker, or comparable experience
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Basic math skills
- Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
- If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
