About us
The Clare Valley School of Dance was established in 2018 and proudly supports over 300 students who travel far and wide across the region to be part of our vibrant dance community. Founded on the passion to bring professional dance to regional South Australia, the school now offers tuition in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and acro dance across two studios in Clare and Balaklava, South Australia.
We are a team of 8 people from wide ranging dance disciplines and administrative roles.
Our students compete at various competitions in South Australia and perform at local community events as well as the annual CanDance For A Cure fundraiser at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Our annual concert brings together over 700 people to celebrate our students. As a treasured part of our community, we were proud for our concert to be awarded Community Event of the Year in 2021.
Opportunity
Clare Valley School of Dance (CVSD) is seeking a passionate Ballet Teacher to lead our ballet program and join our committed and professional team.
You will lead our Ballet program. In 2025 we have a handful of children sitting Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams in Term 3, these students know their work and the successful applicant will help refine and polish the students in preparation for their exam. This will be overseen by our RAD registered teacher. In 2024 the school will look at other syllabus options to suit our new teacher and school. The successful applicant will lead recreational ballet classes, ballet competition troupes, ballet competition solos, private lessons and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) classes for students aged 8 and above.
This position will commence from Term 2, 2024 (or by negotiation thereafter) and we can offer up to 20 hours across four afternoons / evenings during the week, with flexibility on hours for the right candidate (for example only wanting 1-2 afternoons instead of the 4 nights.
Our classes typically run during the school term, with some additional hours required to support competitions, exams and other activities outside this period.
About you
You are a passionate Ballet Teacher with a love for helping children and young people reach their potential. To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a RAD registered teacher or PBT, or relevant ballet background
- Have a ballet teaching background (Preferably RAD and PBT – or willingness to be trained in PBT)
- Have a love for working with children.
- Provide engaging and professional lessons.
- Present yourself in a professional manner as a role model for students.
- Have experience in choreographing routines.
- Be willing to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Have the ability to work independently and use initiative to be an active staff member within the team.
- Have a valid drivers license, your own transport and willingness to travel for competitions when required.

Renumeration
This will be above the award rate and will include 8 weeks paid annual leave. If preferred, an hourly rate as a casual team member can be negotiated instead. Our classes typically run during the school term. As such, annual leave entitlements will typically fall during school holiday periods.
We are happy to contribute to relocation costs for those looking to move to the Clare Valley to fulfill the role. For candidates who intend to travel to Clare, we are happy to discuss travel and accommodation expenses.
