About the role

We have an opportunity for a Band Member - Musician to be part of our Police Concert Band, Public Affairs Branch. The Band Member - Musician contributes to the positive promotion of the NSWPF through community engagement by performing as a musician in the NSW Police Band (a Wind Orchestra) and its various ensembles

Target Question 1:

In addition to the required consistent and ongoing professional level of performance, a musician in the NSW Police Band must have the capacity to meet key challenges of the work which include:- a high level of commitment, accountability, punctuality, deportment and presentation; having an adaptable approach to performance in a variety of settings including less than desirable indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions (including prolonged periods of standing and marching in those conditions); actively participating in the logistical and administrative functions of the Band, as well as being able to interact with Police, youth and members of the community in a positive and professional way; and finally, being able to foster positive workplace interactions within a large and diverse musical team. In addressing these requirements, please demonstrate how your life and/or workplace experiences can be adapted to successfully meet these and other key non-musical challenges.

Target Question 2:

It is highly desirable that a musician possesses an additional skill set/s that can be adapted to contribute to the promotional, logistical and administrative functions of the Band.  Skills and knowledge like holding a Medium and Light Rigid Driver's Licence, arranging, composition, (using Sibelius software) internet/social media, recording/sound (Mac computer experience), instrument repair, video, photography and graphic arts are just some examples. In addressing this question, please outline any additional skills that

you have, your experience/qualifications, and how you could contribute to the success of the Band in this additional way.

Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check and obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
