The Hydrant Food Hall has established itself a leading cafe destination within the city centre of Ballarat Victoria. Tucked down one of Ballarat’s heritage laneways is our converted warehouse complete with open kitchen and original Grinnell sprinkler system. Hydrant Food Hall prides itself on serving a menu based on classic brunch dishes with a creative twist and our delicious in-house roasted coffee. With over 5 years of serving the Ballarat community, Hydrant Food Hall has become a household favourite for both our cafe and private functions, and is also a top cafe to visit for tourists. The Hydrant Food Hall embodies an inclusive culture of outstanding people from all backgrounds each contributing their unique skills to the exceptional experience for our customers. We're looking to add a superstar with barista and table waiting skills on a casual basis (increased hours for the right individual!), someone with a passion for all things coffee, food & excellent customer service, has a bit of banter and loves all things hospitality!
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in high volume coffee establishments.
- Sound understanding of the coffee process - from roasting, to dialling the grinder, cleaning & machine maintenance
- Sound knowledge of a variety of coffee extraction techniques
- Experience as a floor person in a busy cafe environment
Tasks & responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation and production of all beverages (coffee & otherwise)
- Organise beverage stock rotation
- Communicate with management regarding stock levels and ordering
- Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations and communicate effectively with team members
- Actively attend and participate in team meetings
- Educating staff on coffee and training them how to use the equipment in order to ensure the coffee-making standards are always consistent and high.
