ABOUT THE POSITION
The First V Coach will be responsible for team and individual player skill development and will contribute to the development of the Cranbrook Basketball program.
The role includes:
- Team training before and/or after school, two to three times per week
- Competitive fixtures each Saturday during the basketball season
- Pre-season training
- Holidays camps and tournaments
The First V Coach will also be required to prepare the team and develop training programs for interstate competitions and international tours.
Sports coaches actively support the mission and values of Cranbrook School in developing and mentoring our students to reach their potential as athletes and young people. Your role involves developing and improving the physical skills, decision making abilities and positive sporting behaviours of our students to enable them to successfully compete within school-based competitions and beyond.
This is a casual position based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.
ABOUT YOU
You have a demonstrated record of being a dynamic and successful coach in your chosen sport, and be enthusiastic, patient and focused on technique.
Possessing excellent communication skills, you have the ability to engage with all stakeholders in a responsive and inclusive manner.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- At least three years of experience coaching in a school or club
- Ability to develop and implement programs set by the Director of Sport P-12 and the Head of Sport - Basketball
- An active interest in and commitment to the promotion of youth sport
- Ability to role model effective behaviours while acknowledging professional boundaries
- Ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner
- Reliability and commitment
- A community and/or advanced coaching accreditation is highly desirable
- A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
Demonstrated knowledge of high-performance best practice, including awareness of developing trends in coaching technique, skill development and program growth will be advantageous.
