An opportunity exists for someone interested in human behaviour to join our team. You will be using your existing knowledge of the biopsychosocial model of client assessment and support, along with your skills in building relationships, and working in multi-disciplinary teams.
In this role you will be developing the skills to be a NDIS registered Behaviour Support Practitioner. This unique role will give you an insight into the world of behavioural analysis and the opportunity to build on your existing skills in a professional career as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Excellent people skills are essential, including the ability to talk and build rapport with people face to face and over the telephone. The role will involve driving to various destinations across the Western suburbs / Geelong area to meet with clients (car essential - travel allowance paid). The right person will need good observational skills, the ability to record and report their observations, computer skills and well developed writing skills.
We work using a neurodiverse affirming approach using the biopsychosocial model as a foundation to our practice. We work collaboratively as a team to make sure that we are providing the best outcomes for customers.
This role is offered as a full-time or part-time position. There will be future opportunities to increase your position in the business as we are experiencing rapid growth and the expectation would be that you will develop that skills needed to be a Behaviour Support Practitioner with registration under the NDIS Commission.
Qualifications & experience
- A bachelor’s degree and relevant registration in a relevant area, ie psychology, social work, occupational therapy, nursing.
- An interest in behaviour analysis
- Good report writing skills
- Experience working with people or families who live with complex disabilities.
- The ability to engage with a variety of people and undertake observational data collection.
- The ability to quickly build rapport with a variety of people
- The ability to review written documents and identify patterns.
- Meet statutory requirements, NDIS Worker Check, Police Check and WWCC required to obtain registration with the NDIS Commission.
This is an office based role initially, as your skills and experience grow we are able to offer hybrid working arrangements.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Assess clients with challenging behaviours / behaviours of protest to identify patterns of behaviour;
- Collaborate with Behaviour Support Practitioners to identify behaviours;
- Work with clients support teams to develop capacity and understanding of positive Behaviour Support principles;
- Interview clients, review records, conduct assessments;
- Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to their behavioural and NDIS goals;
- Work as part of a small team to deliver great customer experience and outcomes.
