About the Role

TracksHealth Behaviour Specialists provide high quality, person centred, evidence informed Positive Behaviour Support services. Utilising a relational framework, clinicians work with children, young people and adults to increase capacity and functional skills within the areas of behaviour, adaptive skills, play skills, social skills and cognition. A diverse caseload allows clinicians to build skills across areas, explore interest areas and implement skills learnt within tailored professional development plans. 

About You

Our focus is on training and professional development – our role is open to individuals with a bachelor’s level education from a related field, such as teaching, counselling, psychological science, an arts degree majoring in a related field, criminology or social science. Successful applicants will be required to undergo an intensive training package that includes formal education (post graduate coursework) and supervision, provided by TracksHealth.

The successful applicant can also be an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner looking for further development!

Essential:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, education, social work or related field.
  • Ability to participate in TracksHealth funded online university course sequence to obtain the BCaBA or BCBA designation. Information available at www.bacb.com 
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with a disability or children and young people in OOHC.
  • MS Office Proficiency
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to investigate and resolve complex issues, communicate and consult effectively with staff and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of OOHC, NDIS and child protection legislation.
  • Advanced organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks and work independently.

Desired:

  • Proven ability to develop and design training in consultation with internal and external stakeholders that are informed by relative policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver informative reports with multiple facets of information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • 2 or more years of experience working clients with severe behavioural and/or intellectual challenges.

Position Objective

The Behaviour Specialist will function as an integral member of the Clinical Department in providing direct and indirect services to Allambi Care stakeholders in the support of clients with severe behavioural and cognitive challenges. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands the general behavioural characteristics associated with intellectual, emotional and behavioural disorders
  • Works collaboratively with Clinical Department Staff (Registered Psychologists, Provisional Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Psychiatrists, General Practitioners) in meeting overall therapeutic needs of clients and supporting Allambi Care clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design and development of positive support and care plans for use in the delivery of therapeutic services to Allambi Care clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavioural assessment (FBA) and design Behaviour Support plans (intensive training and BACB approved supervision provided)
  • Completes observation of clients in a variety of settings to obtain behavioural information for the development of support services
  • Uses data to inform decision making and apply support strategies within the framework of the Allambi Care Therapeutic Model
  • Incorporates research proven methods for the purposes of determining appropriate behavioural support strategies
  • Develops crisis and safety plans for client, as needed.
  • Prepares professionally written reports on client behavioural functioning to internal and external sources
  • Conducts training on behavioural topics, support design, progress monitoring, data collection techniques, social skills and other related topics for Allambi staff, clients, their families and networks.
  • Serves as a member of the Restricted Practice Panel, process and present cases as needed
  • Conducts training on behavioural topics, support design, progress monitoring, data collection techniques, social skills and other related topics for Allambi staff, clients, their families and networks.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for the improvement of client functioning and interpersonal skills to relate well with a variety of situations to achieve this goal
  • Maintains accurate treatment notes
  • Completes all processes related to invoicing and billing of NDIS and other internally and externally billable sources
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participates in designated University classes to achieve the BCaBA designation through the BACB
  • Conducts other related services, as directed
