Due to growth, we are looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner in Bairnsdale.
The Behaviour Support Practitioner role we be an entry level practitioner or someone with a sound knowledge of the Positive Behaviour Support Model of reducing the use of Restrictive Practices, as well as a strong commitment to delivering evidence-based, functional behavioural outcomes.
Main Duties
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of participants needs and behaviours
- Developing and implementing Behaviour Support plans
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Behaviour Support plans
- Provide training including support for families, carers and support staff
- Maintaining accurate and up to date case notes on participant's progress
- Ensuring Work Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to
- Engaging with participants and clients, their supports and 3rd party organisation’s in a professional manner
- Undertaking work in line with the organisation’s policies, procedures, and values
- Reporting to the NDIS on reportable incidents
- Develop, deliver and evaluate evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
- Complying with all relevant legislation and codes of conduct
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of the NDIS systems and practices
- Maintaining clear professional boundaries with participant's
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of local services and organisation’s participants can utilise
- Managing your schedules to ensure essential time frames and outcomes are met.
- Ensuring your work is of a consistently high standard reflecting the assessed needs and goals of the people we support.
- Required reports to be developed include Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Assessments and Support Plans.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience providing person-centred Behaviour Support to adults and children with complex disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in behaviour assessment, support planning and implementing behaviour strategies that improve the client’s quality of life.
- Be eligible for registration with the NDIA as a Behaviour Practitioner (proficient).
- Registration with AHPRA if appropriate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a strong focus on providing high-quality support, including report writing, to a client and their supporters.
- The ability to work autonomously, meet required timeframes, and contribute positively to the team.
- Preparedness to work outside normal working hours when required
- Current valid Driver’s Licence
- Current NDIS Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Police Check
- Current First-Aid and CPR certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Current Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance and suitable safe vehicle
- Right to Work within Australia
